Prescriptions Dispensed

Smiths Pharmacy is able to dispense both NHS and private prescriptions from an excellent range of medicines in stock. We are even able to dispense veterinary prescriptions. On the rare occasion when a medicine cannot be immediately dispensed, our pharmacists can obtain the correct medication on the same or next day.

Our fully trained pharmacists will advise on how to take your medicine and will also tell you if there is anything you should avoid. They will also be able to identify whether medicines prescribed are compatible with any current medication. All medicines dispensed from Smiths Pharmacy are clearly labelled with appropriate warnings. If you have trouble opening child restraint containers please inform our pharmacy staff who will be happy to provide alternative containers.

Prescription Collection and Delivery

To save you time and money, Smiths Pharmacy offers a free prescription collection and delivery service. We can collect your prescription from any surgery in Lytham and have it dispensed ready for you to collect. For those of our customers who are unable to get to the pharmacy we offer a free delivery service.

Collection Service

Smiths Pharmacy’s collection service can help save you time and money. We are able to collect your prescription from any of the surgeries in Lytham. These include:

• Fernbank
• Greenhall

Our fully qualified staff at Smiths Pharmacy can make up your prescription ready for you to pick up at your convenience.

All you need to do to benefit from this service is to complete the on-line consent form. Or, if you prefer, print off a copy of the form to complete in your own time and either post it or bring it in person along with your repeat slip to the Smiths Pharmacy branch of your choice.

Repeat Prescription Service

Smiths Pharmacy are able to re-order your repeat prescription from any of the surgeries in St Annes on Sea for you. You can give your consent by e-mail, telephone or fax, or by leaving your repeat slip which will be securely stored at the Pharmacy.

To register for this service simply follow the steps shown above.

Delivery Service

For those customers who are unable to visit the Pharmacy, we are able to offer you a prescription collection and delivery service. We can arrange to collect your prescriptions from any of the following surgeries in Lytham:

• Redbank
• Fernbank
• Greenhall

We will then dispense your prescription and deliver your medicine to your home, free of charge.

If you also require items that are sold at the medicine counter, these can be delivered at the same time as your prescription.

We will endeavour to deliver your prescription within 48 hours of collecting or receiving your prescription form.

Unless customers are entitled to free NHS prescriptions, payment will be required on delivery.

There are three ways in which you can enable us to collect your prescription ready for delivery:

• Complete the online patient consent form
• Telephone us

Smiths Pharmacy reserves the right not to deliver a prescription if the distance for delivery is deemed unreasonable.

Repeat Prescription Service

With your consent, Smiths Pharmacy is able to re-order your repeat prescription either online or by using your repeat slip which will be securely stored at the Pharmacy. By us order and collect your repeat prescription, we take the hassle and you take your medicine home. Free home delivery can also be arranged.

Medicine Counter

Our pharmacists are always happy to give you advice on treating common ailments and stock a wide range of competitively priced medicines for their treatment. We can also make up products especially for you.

As well as stocking a variety of medical products we also sell vitamins and a wide range of toiletries.

Medicines Use Review

Smiths Pharmacy is pleased to offer customers a Medicines Use Review (MUR). The MUR is a confidential discussion with your pharmacist which aims to help you get the most out of your medication. During the consultation you will be able to find out more about the medication you are taking, discuss any problems and make sure your medicines are right for you. To make an appointment for an MUR please contact us by e-mail, phone or fax or simply call in.

Confidential Help and Advice

You can talk to our pharmacists in confidence; they will be able to advise you about any treatment that you may require or refer you to a doctor if necessary.

Emergency Hormonal Contraception

Our pharmacists are able to provide advice on various methods of contraception and will dispense the 'morning after' pill in an emergency.

Smoking Cessation Products

Stopping smoking can be very difficult. Here at Smiths Pharmacy we try to make this process easier by offering a range of products to support you in your task. Come in and see us for further information on our product range.

Disability Aids

We stock a good range of walking sticks and can also supply wheelchair accessories and walkers. We also offer a comprehensive range of products to make life easier around the home, such as bathing aids, commodes and kitchen aids.

Smiths Pharmacy can also supply everything for your medical needs at home, such as blood pressure monitors, nebulisers and diabetic meters.

We have access to a complete range of aids and our pharmacists will be happy to advise you on the items most suitable for your needs.

Medicine Disposal

It is dangerous and unwise to keep hold of unwanted medicines in the home. Please return all unused and unwanted medicines to us so that we can dispose of them safely.

First Aid Supplies

Smiths Pharmacy sells competitively priced first aid kits suitable for the home or travel. You can also purchase individual items to restock existing first aid kits, such as plasters, bandages etc.

Travel Health Advice

If you are travelling abroad our pharmacists can advise you on which vaccinations and anti-malarials you may need before you travel. We also stock products for the treatment of travel sickness, diarrhoea and sunburn as well as flight socks and insect repellent.

We stock a wide variety of health information leaflets which are available free of charge. If you require further information on any of the subjects covered please ask one of our pharmacists who will be happy to help you.

Urgent Prescriptions

Smiths Pharmacy is a member of the Lytham ROTA scheme, whereby pharmacies in the area take it in turn to open for the dispensing of emergency prescriptions on Sundays and Bank Holidays. As part of this scheme Smiths Pharmacy will be open on Sunday and Bank Holidays between 1:00pm and 2:00pm in rotation with other participating pharmacies in the area. Details of Sunday/Bank Holiday rota opening arrangements are displayed in the shop and published in the local press.

If you have an emergency prescription that needs to be dispensed outside normal hours, telephone the Police who will arrange for a pharmacist to be called out. This is organised by your Health Authority. Or contact NHS 111 on - Tel: 111.

Pregnancy Testing

Staff at Smiths Pharmacy can carry out a pregnancy test for you in-store. All that is required is a small sample of urine taken first thing in the morning. The test will take a few minutes and a member of staff will discreetly inform you of the result.

Home pregnancy testing kits are also available to purchase if you would prefer to take the test at home.

Stoma and Incontinence Supplies

Smiths Pharmacy can supply a wide range of ostomy and incontinence products, including colostomy, urostomy and urinary products as well as pads, pants, mattress covers etc. Our pharmacists can give discreet advice on the products most suitable for your needs. In the event that we do not have a particular product in stock we will be able to obtain it within 24 hours. If any of our customers is housebound we can arrange for products to be delivered free of charge.
